Entre os convidados mais notáveis estavam presentes os designers Philippe and Jasmine Starck, Ito Morabito, Daniel Arsham and Alex Mustonen, Nynke Tynagel and Job Smeets, Arthur Arbesser, Andrea Pompilio, Andrea Incontri and model Nadege Du Bospertus.
THE ART OF B.zero1
Created of 18 steel rings locked together into a triangle shape, each three meter-wide ring tunnel of the design reveals a keyhole view of the hotel garden. Spiralling into symmetrical shapes that form perfect geometries, the B.zero1 installation spins a different golden viewpoint of itself from every angle. The triangle of its birds-eye grandeur is a symbol of fundamental geometry, wholly inspired by the architectures of Rome. Its shape rhythmically formed with circles, the structure serves as a masterpiece of curvaceous design – and a veritable metaphor for jewellery architecture. In the daytime, the installation reflects its lush Roman environment, its gold-finished rings framing the garden like magic mirrors; meanwhile their shining colour recalls the very first B.zero1 creation, of yellow gold. As the sun sets, the rings reveal themselves with illumination: spiralled secrets of golden light, told only by night. These lighted rings recall the glowing hues of night-time Roman fountains, and capture the luminescent three-coloured soul of the B.zero1 Perfect Mistake collection.
CLASSIC IS REVOLUTIONARY
With this enlightened concept of jewellery creation, the Maison invents disruptive, new aesthetic codes to stem from pure and ancient inspirations: revolutionizing the classic and changing the very destiny of jewellery history. Heralding while modernising its heritage, Bulgari pays tribute to its Roman roots as it reinterprets them with a firmly modern flair. With its B.zero1 revelations, Bulgari conjures the curved architecture of the ancient Colosseum – Rome’s most famous structure – while shaping a perfect synthesis of tradition and innovation.
BOUTIQUE REFLECTION
With a classic echo of Bulgari’s revolutionary approach, B.zero1 is also translated into a special design to dress up the Milan Bulgari boutique for Design Week. With its prominent location on the fashionable Via Montenapoleone, the boutique is a chic icon of Italian design – and a fitting locale for a creative new aesthetic. Reminiscent of the Colosseum’s grandiose marble accents, and its linearity, columns and curves, the boutique design recalls the feel of a three-dimensional amphitheatre in the round. With Roman archways that repeat like the steps of Bulgari’s long history, the classic arches into the revolutionary just within the boutique walls. This design is reflected in the windows that line the Milan storefront; meanwhile their colours and refinement resound with the feel of Rome. Spiralling with Bulgari’s avant-garde tubogas and B.zero1 designs, the in-store décor synthesises the tradition and innovation of the brand into a culmination of modernity, and celebrates the creative nature of Milan Design Week.
B.zero1 PERFECT MISTAKE
In 2016, Bulgari unveiled its new B.zero1 jewels, bold creations to engrave a new chapter into the revolutionary story of the iconic collection. The ability to think outside of the box is a trademark feature of Bulgari design, and the driving force behind B.zero1. In 1999, a commemorative ring was commissioned for the new millennium, and three designs were proposed. Prototype 1 was magnificent, of a uniform gold colour, the perfect jewel to ring in a new era. It was named B.zero1, for the “B” of Bulgari and the zero.1 of infinite beginnings; it became the obvious choice for the millennium ring. But there had been two additional models that could not be forgotten. Prototype 2 was unconventional, of different shades of gold – white, yellow, and pink. Though it did not conform to the original designer request, it was so irresistibly beautiful that today it has been revealed to the public, and named the B.zero1 Perfect Mistake. Meanwhile Prototype 3 had also been formed of a defiant meld of ideas. As a ring stretched to the limit, it became a thin bangle shape gave rise to a daring bracelet design, exploratory and radical, yet delicate and sexy. Sometimes, the forces of the universe come together to create what might first appear to be an oversight, an error – or a fortuitous happenstance. Sometimes these mistakes are repaired or overlooked, but on other occasions, they may just become the world’s perfect mistakes.
NaNA ARCHITECTURE
Brought to life by Not a Number Architects, the B.zero1 artistic installation is but the latest of innovative wonders created by the London-based architectural studio founded in 2008. Self-described as “preoccupied with the creation of meaningful space,” NaNA have designed such striking and unusual constructions to have already rendered the studio into a burgeoning powerhouse of design. Bulgari is proud to collaborate with a partner that shares its innovative worldview, and to have co-created one of the finest examples of jewellery architecture that the world has ever seen.
